Future Energy Landscapes
Starting conversations about renewable energy projects that benefit your local community
Future Energy Landscapes (FEL) is a Centre for Sustainable Energy (CSE) project to start conversations about renewable energy that could be owned by and benefit local people. Community-led energy projects keep benefits local – for example, providing investment in local facilities. When communities lead energy projects, they create solutions that work for everyone – tackling both climate change and rising energy costs.
FEL happens at a town or parish scale. It can be used in the early stages of conversations for a community to decide if they want a community renewables project in their area - it is not a final consultation method. It brings people together to discuss and develop their views on what type of renewable energy could go in their area - and how it could benefit the community.

How to get involved

CSE is running FEL in partnership with local authorities and community energy organisations in England. You can find out more about what FEL is, the current FEL projects, and how to run FEL in your area through this website. If you have questions about community energy or different types of renewable technologies, our FAQs cover a comprehensive list of topics.
