Clevedon & Kenn

Join the conversation about future renewable energy schemes that could be owned by and benefit your local community. We're interested in what you think about a community-owned wind turbine or solar farm in the Clevedon & Kenn area.

This includes finding out:

  • If you'd support renewable energy in the area.

  • Where a wind turbine or solar farm could be located.

  • How your community could benefit from a possible renewable energy scheme.

This page tells you more about what's been happening in your area, and which live opportunities you can get involved in.

The Centre for Sustainable Energy is working in partnership with North Somerset Council and Low Carbon Gordano, with support from Clevedon Climate and Nature Partnership. This work is funded by the Energy Industry Voluntary Redress Scheme. You can find out more about the work here and check our FAQs.

What's happened so far?

October 2025

We held a workshop at Clevedon Community Centre to start a conversation about community energy in the area and explore possibilities for community benefit, and possible areas for a renewable energy project. The workshop was attended by 12 people from the area.

Click here to read the report summarising the workshop discussions.

The workshop report was published and an online survey launched to find out what other people in the area think about the workshop findings, and about community energy generally.

November 2025

We hosted a stand at Clevedon Market on Thursday 27th November to promote the online survey, meet people and understand their opinions on community owned renewable energy.

We spoke to around 60 people from across the Clevedon & Kenn areas to get their views on the outputs from our workshop, give their thoughts on a community owned renewable energy scheme and if they were supportive to indicate where in the local area they may be comfortable seeing something happen.

February 2026

We attended the Clevedon Repair Café on 14th February, speaking to around 20 people who dropped in. Different opinions were shared on community renewable energy with people indicating any areas they may be supportive off whilst also discussing rooftop solar as something they’d like to see

March 2026

We attended Kenn Parish Council’s meeting on 2nd March on how best to engage with residents in the Kenn area. We gave an update on our engagement and findings so far and gathered input from the parish councillors and members of the public at the meeting

April 2026

We attended the Kenn Village monthly market on 11th April and the the Green Shift Festival in Clevedon on 18th April and spoke to around 70 more people from across the two parishes. We had some great conversations with those that spoke to us generally favourable in seeing a locally owned renewable enegy project

What happens next?

We hosted a workshop on 29th April at Clevedon Community Centre reviewing all our engagement and findings so far. From those who attended it felt like there was positivity in the local area around renewables and that more technical information would be needed to identify possible areas of focus.

We are looking for those in the community who would be keen to get involved to get in touch with us to help us continue to move this forward. If you are interested please get in touch with communities@cse.org.uk
