Giving communities the information, time and space to develop their own local energy vision
Falfield, Cromhall and Tortworth
Join the conversation about future renewable energy schemes that could be owned by and benefit your local community. We're interested in what you think about a community-owned wind turbine or solar farm in the Falfield, Cromhall and Tortworth area.
This includes finding out:
-
If you'd support renewable energy in the area.
-
Where a wind turbine or solar farm could be located.
-
How your community could benefit from a possible renewable energy scheme.
This page tells you more about what's been happening in your area.
The Centre for Sustainable Energy is working in partnership with Bristol Energy Cooperative, South Gloucestershire Council, South Gloucestershire Community Energy Network and Climate Action Thornbury & Surrounding Areas. This work is funded by the Energy Industry Voluntary Redress Scheme. You can find out more about the work here and check our FAQs.

What's happened so far?
July 2025
We held a workshop in Falfield to start a conversation about community energy in the area and explore possibilities for community benefit, and possible areas for a renewable energy project.
August till September 2025
An online survey launched to find out what other people in the area think about the workshop findings, and about community energy generally.
September 2025
We hosted a stand at Cromhall Village Fair, speaking to people from across the Falfield, Cromhall and Tortworth areas to get their views on the outputs from our workshop, give their thoughts on a community owned renewable energy scheme and if they were supportive to indicate where in the local area they may be comfortable seeing something happen.
November 2025
Findings from the workshop, survey and other community activities were summarised in a report, which you can access here.
