A Centre for Sustainable Energy (CSE) initiative that gives communities information, time and space to develop their own local energy vision
Pewsey and Manningford
Future Energy Landscapes has been working in the Pewsey and Manningford area since November 2025. It is a partnership between Wiltshire council, the Centre for Sustainable Energy and Zero North Wiltshire Community Energy, with support from Pewsey Green.
The aim of Future Energy Landscapes is to engage the community in open conversations about renewable energy schemes that could be owned by the community and run for the benefit of the people living in the area.
We are interested to find out what local people feel about a community-owned wind turbine or solar farm in the area. This includes:
-
If local residents would support renewable energy in the area.
-
Where a wind turbine or solar farm could be located.
-
How the community could benefit from such renewable energy schemes.
This page tells you more about what has been happening in the Pewsey and Manningford area. Engagement in this area is now finished and a final report is being written to summarise the key findings.
What’s happened so far
October 2025
We hosted a meeting for landowners and farmers in the area at the Heritage Centre in Pewsey on 21 October 2025. The area was identified as having a strong farming community, therefore it was important understand their views in relation to community-owned renewable energy. 4 people attended this meeting.
November 2025
We held a workshop at the Bouverie Hall to start a conversation about community energy in the area and explore possibilities for community benefit, and possible areas for a renewable energy project. The workshop was attended by 18 people from the area. Click here to read the report summarising the workshop discussions.

January 2026
The workshop report was published and an online survey launched to find out what other people in the area think about the workshop findings, and community energy generally.
February 2026
To speak to more people beyond the first workshop, pop-up stalls were held across three locations on Saturday 28 February; Pewsey Library, The Vale Community Campus, and Co-op supermarket in Pewsey. The aim was to speak to members of the public about community energy to find out what they think, and to promote the survey. 38 people engaged with the stalls.
April 2026
The survey closed at the end of April 2026. 77 people completed the survey.
What happens next?
The survey responses are being analysed by the Centre for Sustainable Energy and a final report is being written to summarise the key findings from engagement. The report will be available on this website once it's complete, in summer 2026.
