Westbury and surrounding areas
Future Energy Landscapes has been working in Westbury and surrounding areas areas since May 2026. It is a partnership between Zero North Wiltshire Community Energy, Wiltshire Council, and the Centre for Sustainable Energy.
The aim of Future Energy Landscapes is to engage the community in open conversations about renewable energy schemes that could be owned by the community and run for the benefit of the people living in the area.
We are interested to find out what local people feel about a community-owned wind turbine or solar farm in the area, with an initial focus on Westbury, Bratton, Upton Scudamore and Dilton Marsh. This includes:

Where a wind turbine or solar farm could be located.

How the community could benefit from such renewable energy scheme.

What's happened so far?
May 2026
We held a workshop at the Laverton on 20 May to start a conversation about community energy in the area and explore possibilities for community benefit, and possible areas for a renewable energy project. The workshop was attended by 22 people from the area.

What happens next?
We will be popping up at some local events (details to be confirmed) to share the survey and speak to more people in the area to find out what they think about community energy. The survey will close on Wednesday 23 September 2026.
Once these steps are complete, we will produce a report summarising the findings from engagement throughout the project to help guide possible future development.
